Work around the IT shop has been pretty brisk as of late.  The new wireless system at OTHS is still being worked on by the MLTI crews.  The latest issue is a fiber connection that is not functioning properly.

While everyone is on Vacation the IT Department will be working on a number of projects.  These projects include installing a number of new N-Computing clusters in the Elementary Schools and improving a computer lab layout at VRE.

I hope everyone has a great Holiday and we will see you in the New Year.

Tim will be on vacation for the next two weeks.

The wires are going in tomorrow (Nov 4th) and the access points have been scheduled to be installed on the 9th of November.
Once those two things happen there should be wireless coverage over the entire building.  The only place that may be an issue would be the portables because of the length of the wire run from the main building to the portables.

Jef will be out of the office from October 29th  until November 12th.  This will leave just Matt and I to run the shop over that time period.

Tim will be out of the shop on November 6th leaving just Matt in the shop for one day.

The installation of part of the new wireless network will begin on November 4th.

This is just a quick update.

IT is currently pushing some updates to all the MLTI Macbooks at LMS, OTHS and OTES.  These updates include Safari, iTunes and some printer related updates.  We are working on some new clusters, repairing an old one, updating some servers and storage space as well as the helpdesk calls that have been submitted.

The ACTEM conference went smooth and the IT Department got to look into some new technologies and new ways to use older technologies.

Friday afternoon the LMS wireless system was updated, hopefully taking care of the pesky issues we have had with it as of late.

The Filter had been reset over the weekend and we are working on getting it back to where it was before the reset.  Please be patient as we work on this.

Matt is working with the High School to get the NWEA testing underway.

Here is what is going on in I.T.

Today we have a site survey for the new wireless network at OTHS.  The new wireless network will provide better coverage and faster speeds.  In a couple of weeks the Apple folks should be back to run new wires then they will be installing the new Cisco access points and turning the system on.  Please bear with us as this process takes some time.
