Students at OTES enjoyed the last day of school with Zac the Juggler. This was an exciting way to end a great school year. Students were asked to keep up with their reading and log their minutes on their pledge sheets. These sheets should be returned to school on the first week of the new school year. The fifth grade classrooms were empty as our students spent the day at Leonard Middle School. LMS annually coordinates a wonderful step-up program which allows our kiddos time to learn more about the sixth grade.
Today grade 2 student had the chance to go upstairs and spend some time meeting the third grade teaching team. Students spent about 15 minutes with each teacher learning about what it’s going to be like next year. There were plenty of questions and answers. The group ended the event with a quiz game where prizes were given to students who could correctly recall facts about the third grade.
Our current third grade students traveled “back in time” and spent the morning with their former teachers. Students participated in a variety of group activities.
AND, sadly, today is the last day of school for our Kindergarten class. Scheduled Kindergarten screening begins tomorrow. Please call our front office and schedule a screening date if you plan on enrolling a student into the 2010-2011 OTES Kindergarten class. 827-1544 ext. 301 Janna Irvine is coordinating the K-screening.
Mrs. Mayer and Dr. Tuell spent time in a dunk tank today to raise money and awareness for our annual summer reading initiative. This year’s goal is for our students to read over 300,000 minutes! For the record, that water was REALLY cold…..thank you Dr. Tuell and Mrs. Mayer for supporting our kids!
The PTC treated every OTES students today with an ice cream Sunday!
