Training has begun as of January 25, 2010!!! Every Monday, from 2:30-3:30 in P10 (Ms. Davis’s room), student editors, Ms. Ruark, Mr. Pittis, and Ms. Davis will gather to prepare for the grand opening of the Writing Center. Here’s a snapshot of what we’ll be doing:
Week 1 ………………… Writing Time and the Writing Process
Week 2 ……………….. What do YOU need to know? and the Language of Writing
Week 3 ……………….. Dos and Don’ts for Tutors
Week 4 ……………….. Running a Session
Week 5 ……………….. Mock Tutoring Sessions
Week 6 ……………….. Publicity (naming the center, writing a mission statement, creating a logo, etc)
Weeks 7/8 ………….. Make-up, set-up the center, last minute items
It is imperative for student editors to attend training sessions. Missed sessions will need to be made up. If you absolutely cannot make a session, you need to see one of the co-directors (Ms. Ruark, Mr. Pittis, or Ms. Davis) as soon as possible.
